Candles and Scents
Richly Scented Candles
Hand - Poured to Perfection
Mineral Point, Wisconsin

Scented Candles have always been a part of my home.  In addition, the aromatherapy from scented candles relaxes and sooths me. Yet, I

was frequently frustrated with the expensive scented candles that I was burning. The expensive candles seemed to be richly scented

before burning them, but once lit the fragrance emitted was minimal. The most frustrating element of those expensive scented candles

was when the candle would tunnel down the middle, leaving an inch or so of wax on the side of the jar.

I decided I was going to learn how to make a great burning scented candle. Testing began with dozens of different waxes, wicks, richly

scented fragrances and formulas in my kitchen. After many months of trial and error, I finally developed a clean burning scented candle

that was richly scented, and was made with the very best of ingredients.

Through word of mouth,  Candles and Scents began to grow. Eventually, and to the relief of my family, in October of 2000

production of our candles was moved into a new manufacturing building, including a retail store, on our farm.

I have been blessed with many wonderful employees, past and present that have and still do contribute to this wonderful business.

Without them the business would scease to exist. These employees are the backbone of this company, and I am forever grateful to all of

them.

We are 50 something women, doing what we love to do. Every year we strive to have the best product we can possibly offer. We take

great pride in what we do, and feel truly blessed to be able to share it with you.

Laurie Kromm, Owner of SpringHouse Candles and Scents.

Our name, SpringHouse Candles and Scents was inspired by a 100 year-old springhouse that is located on our farm. There was a time

when many springs in this area were covered by a small building, usually made of stone. As spring water issues from the earth at a

temerature of apptoxately 65 degrees, these small buildings were constructed to hold a constant pool of water about one foot deep.

Although originally built to keep milk, cream, and other perishables cool, the springhouse also served as an escape from the summer

heat as well as a quite retreat.

Candles were then made from tallow and beeswax. The springhouse provided a perfect place to hang the candels to cool.
